There are three main ways VA benefit payments can be received:

Direct Deposit into a bank or credit union account

Paper checks (only with Treasury approval)

How to Get Started

If you already have a bank account: Visit the VBBP site and select “I already have a bank account.” You’ll be directed to update your direct deposit through your VA.gov profile.
If you’re unbanked: Choose “I need a bank account” to access the veteransbenefitsbanking.org tool to find and apply with a participating bank or credit union.

Once set up, you can enroll in direct deposit using VA.gov or by calling 1‑800‑827‑1000.
