Presumptive Service Connection for Gulf War Veterans

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) is establishing an amendment with the intent to ease the burden of veterans who file claims with the VA for nine rare respiratory cancers in association with presumed exposure to fine particulate matter. With the publication of 87 FR 24421 on April 26, 2022 provisions, service, and benefits became current practice for these cancers. These conditions could apply to veterans who served in Southwest Asia during the Persian Gulf War from August 2, 1990 onward as well as those who served during the Gulf War on or after September 19, 2001 in Afghanistan, Syria, Djibouti, or Uzbekistan.

Information on how to file a claim with the VA is found at https://www.va.gov/disability/how-to-file-claim/.
