PACT Act Scams

Scams related to PACT Act benefits are on the rise. Veterans are being targeted by scammers for access to their PACT Act benefits through social media, phishing (email), and vishing (phone). Be aware of any claims guaranteeing financial service or benefit. Federal agencies will only reach out when a request has been made. Here are some tips to protect yourself:

  • Do not provide personal, financial, medical, or benefit information

  • Do not click on online ads

  • Do not engage in suspicious social media

  • Utilize multi-factor authentication on accounts

  • Work with known service providers

  • Check for “https://” at the beginning of website addresses

Report suspected fraud by contacting ftc.gov, vaoighotline@va.gov, or call (800) 488-8244.
