Scam Calls to Diners

Updated: Aug 15, 2023

Apps such as Open Table that help make reservations at restaurants have seen an increase in scams targeting the hospitality industry and diners. While these apps can save time, there are some precautions users should take.

Be aware of:

▪ Calls asking for credit card information to hold the reservation, for a deposit, or for a refund.

▪ Calls asking for additional personal information to confirm or hold the reservation.

In the event a call is received requesting financial information or additional information for a reservation, hang up and call the restaurant directly. Report any scams to the reservation app company.
